Visitors to Murray Halberg Park can now learn more about the rich history and cultural significance of the area through two new storyboards installed by Auckland Council.
Located around the edge of the park, the storyboards share the stories of Te Auaunga awa, mana whenua connections to the area, and the history of Te Ahi-kā-a-Rakataura (Ōwairaka).
The storyboards provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to connect with the landscape and gain a deeper understanding of the people, places and histories that have shaped the area over generations.
Whether you're out for a walk, enjoying the park with family or exploring the neighbourhood, take a moment to stop and discover these important local stories. They offer a meaningful way to learn more about the unique heritage of Ōwairaka and the significance of Te Auaunga to the community.
