WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE GROUND
Waikōwhai is part of the wider Roskill Development, led by Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, focused on delivering high-quality new homes alongside upgrades to parks and essential infrastructure.
When complete, the Waikōwhai neighbourhood will deliver over 708 brand-new homes.
PROGRESS SO FAR
- Physical works for Stages 1 and 2 are now complete, enabling around 380 new homes. This includes 23 social homes. All market land within these stages has been contracted to seven development partners.
HOMES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
- House construction is progressing really well for the first two market superlots, yielding 43 homes. These are due for completion around Q3 of 2026. These homes are currently available to purchase. More market homes are due to commence construction this year, which will also be available to purchase. Plenty more homes are to commence construction in 2026.
PARKS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND UPGRADES
- Work has commenced on Te Auaunga ki Tai reserve, an extension of Molley Green Reserve. House removals, land remediation and wastewater connection to the Central Interceptor are complete. The project provides critical stormwater and wastewater upgrades and continues to celebrate the daylighting of the awa, with completion anticipated around the end of 2026.
STREETS AND INFRASTRUCTURE READY FOR GROWTH
- Stage 4 and 4B house removals are due to start Q2 of 2026, followed by civil construction. This will enable approximately 145 social homes and around 100 market homes.
LOOKING AHEAD
Waikōwhai continues to move forward as a well-connected, future-ready neighbourhood, with homes, parks and infrastructure taking shape together. Thank you to all in the community who have shared their time and input.
