At the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau is people. And those people represent a hugely diverse range of beautiful, vibrant cultures.
Culture Fest is a way that we get to come together and celebrate this diversity, as part of the 21 day World of Cultures festival.
This year’s Culture Fest, presented by Auckland Council, was held at Mt Roskill War Memorial Park on Sunday 2 April.
There were over 60 cultures represented, each celebrating their uniqueness in a vibrant, whānau-friendly, one-day event.
There were over 100 stalls, where people could explore and experience different food, art, crafts, and clothing. There were exciting performances from a range of talented cultural artists and groups, as well as music and activities for whānau to enjoy.
The Roskill Development team was there, chatting with the community about the new homes, infrastructure, and amenities coming to the neighbourhood.
Kāinga Ora had two cultural graffiti walls on display, where people of all ages could have a go at drawing and designing homes through a cultural lens. It was great to have two special guests, local architect and urban designer Akash Kumar, and local artist Kelly Pretty, there to help facilitate this.

It was a beautifully warm and sunny day, filled with vibrant cultural flavour, performances, abundant stalls, and yummy kai. It was great to see the heart of our people, coming together as one.
