As we enter our 4th week of Alert Level 4, getting outside to stretch the legs and get a little vitamin D becomes increasingly important for our mental and physical health. With Term 2 of school also kicking off this week, many of us will be navigating new challenges to our family dynamics as we throw home schooling into the mix.
A great way to start the ‘school’ day (or any day for that matter) could be to ride/walk to school in the morning and ride/walk home again. A quick lap around the block or a nearby walking track can help give kids a bit of structure to their day, and it’s a great mood booster for frustrated ‘teachers’ too!
If you live near the Awa, there’s a lovely 1.5km stretch that has recently been restored with scenic walkways and cycleways, definitely worth a visit! As always, please remember to follow social distancing rules when you’re exercising, and be considerate of your neighbours who are out doing the same.
