Why here?

Auckland needs more homes for more people, more quickly. We’re underway with a number of large scale development projects across the city as part of Kainga Ora’s Urban Development programme. The Roskill Development is one of these projects where we are building quality new homes in the greater Roskill area. Development work is under way in Roskill South, Ōwairaka, Waikōwhai and Wesley (west).

The greater Roskill area has been chosen for development because it has good local facilities and transport links and it’s close to the city centre, the airport, and other employment hubs in southeast Auckland. The community also has Kainga Ora state homes that are past their best and need renewing.

Building housing on such a large scale gives us the chance to ‘renovate’ the area we are working in and bring public spaces and facilities up to date for the community. New people will move into the area, providing more customers for local businesses and more people to contribute to community organisations and schools.

Greater Roskill’s neighbourhoods already have vibrant, diverse communities. Our vision is to increase the supply and choice of housing available in these areas so that these communities can continue to grow and thrive.
