WHERE THINGS STAND THIS QUARTER

Ōwairaka is part of the wider Roskill Development, led by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities. This large-scale, long-term project is transforming the neighbourhood with modern, warm homes and essential new infrastructure.

So far, here's where we're at:

INFRASTRUCTURE COMPLETE ACROSS ALL FOUR STAGES

All physical works are now complete across all four stages of the Ōwairaka Development, enabling over 1,160 homes. Significant infrastructure delivered includes a $34 million stormwater network in the Ōwairaka neighbourhood where none previously existed, which separated the stormwater from the previously combined wastewater system — greatly reducing the incidence of flooding and sewer overflows.

HOMES COMPLETE, UNDER WAY AND STILL TO COME

• Over 570 new homes completed so far: approximately 180 social homes and 390 market homes.

• Around 345 homes are currently under construction, including:

  • OW-44 – 41 market homes – Cassino Tce/Alamein Tce

  • OW-34 – 83 market apartments and terraces – Hargets Terrace

  • OW-36 – 18 market homes – Hendon Avenue

• More market homes will be completed and become available for purchase throughout 2026-2029.

• Only a few social housing sites remain to be completed.

• Almost all market land is now contracted, across nine development partners.

LOOKING AHEAD

Ōwairaka will continue to take shape as a modern, well-connected and resilient neighbourhood, with homes and infrastructure working together to support a thriving community.
