In late October, the Roskill community came together to celebrate a truly special milestone: the centennial anniversary of May Road School.
For 100 years, May Road School has stood as a cornerstone of Mt Roskill, nurturing generations of tamariki and whānau. The centennial weekend was a vibrant celebration of past and present, with students, teachers, alumni, and families gathering to honour the school’s legacy and its enduring role in the community.
One of the most memorable moments was a drone-captured image of students and staff forming the number “100” on the school field—a powerful visual tribute to a century of learning, growth, and connection.
Kāinga Ora’s Roskill Development team was humbled to be included in this special occasion, celebrating alongside the community as May Road School marked its 100-year milestone. May Road School has been a vital part of Roskill South’s transformation, and as the neighbourhood grows, so does the school by welcoming new families.
The oldest attendee at the celebration was 100 years old, a beautiful reflection of the school’s deep roots and lasting impact.
Here’s to the next hundred years of May Road School—where community, culture, and care continue to thrive.
