More than 150 people gathered to celebrate a big year for the neighbourhood, where a team of elves from Roskill Development and Kāinga Ora handed out Christmas goodie bags and shared details about upcoming work and updates on projects already happening for the area.

Like a scene from Santa’s workshop, whānau and tamariki got crafty with star making and face painting, while others enjoyed the sunshine and hit the basketball court to shoot some hoops.

People got creative with chalk street art, Christmas props for photoshoots, or got involved in planting, painting and games at the afternoon event on Monday 27 November.

“It was heartwarming to see all the local kids having fun along with all the local leaders who came to support our team,” says Karla Beazley, Kāinga Ora Community Engagement and Development Coordinator.

“Great connections were made in what was a nice way to wind down a very busy year!”

Our civil construction partners at LEAD Alliance added to the festivities contributing Christmas crackers, candy canes, and provided a digger on site to use as a photo booth. The teams from Hoodlinks, Aftermath, Friends of Molley Green Reserve and Harcourts Mt Roskill all came together to make the day a success.
